Hoof Care

Each horse no matter what their breed has the same number of cork screw like hoof tubules that make up the outside wall of the hoof. This means that a Shetland has the same number of hoof tubules as a Clydesdale. This makes a Shetlands hooves extremely hard which means they need their hooves trimmed regularly and constant movement. After looking at various hoof care and trimming methods, we use the trimming and hoof care methods of Dr Hildred Strasser. We have found this method the best way of insuring our ponies are sound and founder free.   For further information on Strasser Hoof Care visit  Institute of Bare Foot Equine Management  and www.naturalhoof.co.nz
